Lynne Scott Safrit

Lynne Scott SafritLynne Scott Safrit has served as President of Atlantic American Properties and the North American Commercial Division of Castle and Cooke since 1995. In that capacity, she has managed over two million square feet of office and retail space, 500 residential units, and has been involved in the construction of office, retail, medical, country club, and residential properties throughout the country.

Safrit has worked in various capacities for David Murdock for 26 years, beginning with Mr. Murdock’s ownership of Cannon Mills Company in Kannapolis and the subsequent development of his real estate operations there.

A native of Kannapolis, Safrit graduated Cum Laude with a BA from Catawba College in 1980 and from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1981 with a MA. She is currently enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Doctoral Program in Public Health Leadership. She is a graduate of the Commercial Real Estate Institute, holds the CCIM designation, and is a licensed general real estate appraiser in both North and South Carolina. She is also a licensed real estate broker in both North and South Carolina and is a member of the Cabarrus County Board of Realtors, the NC Board of Realtors, the Appraisal Institute, the Charlotte Commercial Board of Realtors, and the Urban Land Institute. She is also a graduate of the North Carolina Bank Directors’ College.

Active in an array of professional and civic organizations, Safrit is currently on the Board of Trustees at Catawba College, the Board of Directors at the Bank of the Carolinas, the Board of Directors for the Gertrude Hinson Charitable Trust, the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, President of the Board of Directors for the Cabarrus County Economic Development Corporation, and the Advisory Board for University of North Carolina at Charlotte College of Health and Human Services. She has served in many capacities on the YMCA Board of Directors, the Cabarrus Arts Council, the Kannapolis Community Chorus, the Cabarrus County Literacy Council, The Cabarrus County Tourism Authority, the Kannapolis Rotary Club, and The NorthEast Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors.

Safrit is the recipient of the O.B. Michael Outstanding Alumnus Award in 2001 from Catawba College and the 2007 Citizen of the Year for the Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce. She was also inducted into the Catawba College Business Hall of Fame in 2007.

A member of Crossroads Methodist Church in Concord, Safrit lives in Kannapolis with her two children, Elizabeth and Wil, and her husband, Wally, an attorney in Kannapolis.
