Rowan-Cabarrus Community College (RCCC)
RCCC is a comprehensive, community-based institution of higher learning serving the citizens of Rowan and Cabarrus counties. Offering associate degree programs in a wide number of fields, RCCC provides more than 2,000 course offerings, and has an overall enrollment of approximately 20,000 adult students.
With the creation of NCRC, the college is now working to empower local citizens with the knowledge they need for successful careers in the research and technical fields. According to a study commissioned by the City of Kannapolis, NCRC will bring 2,220 new biotech jobs to the region by 2008 and more than 13,900 such jobs by 2029. RCCC will help fill those positions with local talent.
RCCC will have its own location on the NCRC campus and will offer several new degree programs in biotechnology, agricultural biotechnology and an option in bioprocessing. In addition to degree programs, RCCC will offer a 140-hour “BioWork” course through its continuing education program. BioWork gives students a broad overview of the biomanufacturing industry and prepares them for entry-level biomanufacturing, chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing jobs.
