(NC Research Campus, Kannapolis, NC- January 16, 2013)- The Cabarrus Chinese American Association (CCAA), organized by scientists at the NC Research Campus, is saying good-bye to the Year of the Dragon and welcoming in the Year of the Snake by hosting a Chinese New Year celebration on Saturday, February 9 from 11 am to 4 pm at Cox Mill High School, 1355 Cox Mill Road near Concord Mills Mall.
The CCAA’s New Year Celebration is perfect for families with delicious Chinese food and 50 performers demonstrating traditional Chinese dance and
music. This year will also feature a business showcase. Last year’s event attracted over 500 people, and organizers are expecting even more this year.
Tickets are available online for $8 for adults. Children six to 12 are $5. Tickets are $10 at the door. All proceeds from the event support the CCAA’s Chinese Language School. More information is also available at www.cabarruschinese.org.
The Chinese New Year is one of the most important holidays on the Chinese calendar and is also known as the Spring Festival. The Snake is the sixth sign of the Chinese Zodiac, a cycle of 12 animal symbols. The Snake symbolizes cunning, intelligence and materialism.
