NC Central BRITE

NC Central University's Biotechnology Research Institute and Technology Enterprise (BRITE) trains undergraduate and graduate students in pharmaceutical sciences preparing them for jobs in biomanufacturing, research and development, bioprocessing, quality assurance/quality control, and validation.

Located in Durham just two hours from the NCRC, the BRITE facility contains 21,000 square-feet of classrooms, meeting space, offices and another 31,000 square-feet of industry-modeled laboratories outfitted with over $1.2 million in equipment made possible by the Golden LEAF Foundation. BRITE's industry-experienced, teachers have ongoing research that has won over $1.8 million in federal research funding in the past year. They have patented technologies in areas such as nanotechnology, neurodegenerative diseases, infectious disease and cancer. BRITE engages students with academic and industry internships, participation in scientific meetings and conferences, and opportunities to work with faculty to advance their research.
