NC State BTEC
North Carolina State University’s Golden LEAF Biotechnology Training and Education Center, better known as BTEC, is an 82,500 gross-square-foot, cross-disciplinary instructional center that provides educational and training opportunities to develop skilled professionals for the biomanufacturing industry.
Located on NC State University's Centennial Campus, only a two-hour drive from the NCRC, BTEC conducts training in its classrooms and bench-, intermediate- and pilot-scale labs with industry-standard bioprocessing equipment. BTEC’s simulated-cGMP pilot plant facility is capable of producing biopharmaceutical products and packaging them in a sterile environment.
Industry professionals can earn continuing education units by taking BTEC's open-enrollment, short courses in biomanufacturing, bioprocess development, bioprocess engineering, and analytical technologies. BTEC also provides customized training courses designed in collaboration with and delivered to local, national and international companies. BTEC's Bioprocess and Analytical Services initiative provides process development, technology development, and analytical testing/method development services to companies with biomanufacturing interests and to academic institutions.
BTEC's degree programs include an undergraduate biomanufacturing minor, an undergraduate certificate in biomanufacturing and a post-baccalaureate certificate in biomanufacturing. BTEC's Professional Science Masters (PSM) program, established with funding from the National Science Foundation, offers a Master of Biomanufacturing (non-thesis) and a Master of Science in Biomanufacturing (thesis).
