UNC Charlotte: Bioinformatics Research Center

UNC Charlotte’s Bioinformatics Research Center (BRC) defines bioinformatics as the “discovery, development and application of novel computational technologies to help solve important biological problems.” At NCRC, the Center will provide specialized computer systems and software, data management solutions and analysis for academic researchers and biotechnology companies. In this role, BRC will offer sophisticated computational support in the design and development of new research and technologies.

BRC is an interdisciplinary center involving faculty in departments including Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Statistics, and Software and Information Systems. BRC plans to build the country’s largest bioinformatics department with 25 faculty over the next few years.
