Research Facilities

The UNCG Center for Research Excellence in Bioactive Food Components is housed in the UNC Nutrition Research Building, the same building that houses programs for UNC Chapel Hill, NC Central University, and North Carolina A&T State University. Research conducted by the UNCG researchers includes studies utilizing cell models, animal models, and human subjects. The laboratory facilities of the UNCG faculty include 2 x Agilent HPLC systems with autosampler and preparative flow cell; Shimadzu preparative HPLC with autosampler and flow cell; Leco GC-TOFMS system (Agilent 6890N gas chromatography coupled with Pegasus HT time-of-flight mass spectrometer); Lamda 25 UV IVS spectrophotometer; 3 x -80°C Ultra cold Freezers (Thermo Fisher) and 4 x -40°C Revco Ultra low temp freezers; 4 x laminar flow hoods and 8 x incubators; Applied Biosystems 7500 Real-Time PCR System, light inverted microscope, ultracentrifuge, etc.
